Raku Demo – Third Thursday ArtWalk

One of our favorite Potter’s House traditions is live demonstrations of Raku firing. In this video Bob explains the technique and shows the process from kiln to finish. It’s exciting to watch the fire, the smoke and the flash of the glaze when the piece is reintroduced to oxygen. Night-time firings are even more dramatic. Fall is our favorite time of year to do evening firings. It gets dark early, but it’s not too cold out yet, so our guests can enjoy the show without freezing their noses & toes.

This Thursday night you can catch a live, in – the – dark firing during Third Thursday ArtWalk. We’ll be featuring Terri Axness’ art and Bob will do a live firing at 7PM.
